| Here is as second variety of stromatoporoid, a curious form of sponge, commonly seen in the Upper Devonian Lost Burro Formation of the Death Valley region--the classically concentrically laminated stromatoporoids that frequently develop biohermal masses of tangled sponges scores of feet thick. This chunk was spotted in the Panamint Range. |
